Time

Location

This PIN Talk which took place online on 13 May from 10.00-12.30 (CEST) looked at how to improve the road safety of e-scooters. The event examined both the safety of the vehicles themselves and how road rules can also improve safety.
ETSC presented their latest e-scooter report, focusing on the available data relating to e-scooter user deaths and serious injuries. There were further presentations from the European Commission on a study they commissioned into harmonised rules for micromobility and from BASt about the legislation Germany already has in place to regulate e-scooters.
During the second half of the event we heard from the UK about the importance of good data collection, from Denmark on how their mandatory helmet law has been working, and from two cities, Helsinki and Tallinn, about how they are working with shared e-scooter providers to reduce nighttime e-scooter collisions in particular.
