New study highlights risks to older pedestrians

  • August 30, 2014

Fundación Mapfre, a Spanish member of ETSC, has found that the highest-risk group of pedestrians are people aged over 65. Older people tend to suffer more serious injuries and have a higher risk of death according to the research. The organisation is calling for a range of measures including automated braking systems that can detect pedestrians, driver distraction alert systems, improvement to pedestrian crossing design and awareness raising.
