Milan congestion charge cuts crashes

The number of road crashes with injuries in the Italian city of Milan has fallen by 26.3% since a road pricing scheme was introduced in January 2012. 

The measure, which has overwhelming public support, has also cut emissions and increased use of public transport. The impressive results were recognised by the International Transport Forum of the OECD, at an award ceremony in Leipzig, Germany in May.  See press release
