In memoriam – Inés Ayala Sender

  • August 1, 2024

Former MEP and ETSC board observer Inés Ayala Sender passed away in July, aged 67.

Mrs Ayala Sender was first elected to the European Parliament in 2004, and was re-elected in 2009 and 2014, serving until 2019.

She was an important advocate for road safety on the European Parliament’s transport committee, notably acting as the MEP responsible for negotiating the Parliament’s position on EU legislation on cross-border enforcement of traffic offences.

ETSC’s policy director Ellen Townsend remembered Mrs Ayala Sender as a dedicated and hard-working MEP that was committed to European road safety targets and Vision Zero.
